Good Jobs and Modern Infrastructure

Ida knows that strong infrastructure means more jobs, more economic opportunity, and a stronger future for our desert and inland communities. As Mayor, she has worked with regional partners to improve major roads, reduce traffic near our ports of entry, and strengthen the infrastructure our local economy depends on. She'll fight to secure the funding needed to modernize our infrastructure and keep our region growing.

Ida grew up in a union household in the Imperial Valley, where she saw how fair wages, healthcare benefits, and worker protections gave her family stability. In the Assembly, she will support fair wages, safe working conditions, paid leave, and strong enforcement against wage theft and worker misclassification. She also supports apprenticeship programs and pathways into union careers so local residents can build family-sustaining careers without leaving the region.

Our communities need investment in roads, water, and clean energy to bring down costs and support local businesses. Projects like the New River Parkway in Calexico, corridor safety improvements in Imperial, and the removal of the abandoned Brawley Tower show what state investment can do for public safety and local economies, and Ida will fight to fund work like this across the district. When major developments like warehouses and freight terminals come to the region, she will push for enforceable community benefits agreements that guarantee good jobs and protect the health of nearby residents.
