Quality, Affordable Healthcare

For more than 20 years, Ida has cared for local families on the front lines of healthcare as an emergency room and intensive care nurse who earned a Doctorate and is currently a nurse practitioner. Every day, she sees how rising healthcare costs and a shortage of providers in our communities hurt people across our region. That's why Ida will fight to expand access to affordable healthcare, lower prescription drug costs, and protect the healthcare programs families depend on.

The 36th District is one of the lowest-income districts in California, and too many residents face high costs, long wait times, and a shortage of doctors, nurses, and clinics close to home. When care is delayed, health problems get worse and more expensive for families. Ida will fight to keep rural hospitals and clinics open, expand access to primary, preventive, and mental health care, and strengthen the healthcare workforce so more providers train and practice in our region.

Protecting the programs families depend on means standing up to cuts in Washington. Ida attended the 2025 State of the Union as Congressman Raul Ruiz's guest to stand against Medicaid cuts that would limit the care local health facilities can provide, and in the Assembly she will fight to protect Medi-Cal for the families who rely on it. She will also strengthen oversight of pharmacy benefit managers, the middlemen who drive up prescription drug costs, and protect every patient's right to make reproductive healthcare decisions with their provider, without political interference.
